Periodic Table of Elements

Other Nonmetals

The other nonmetals are:

Properties of other nonmetals:

Other nonmetals are usually brittle
They are very poor conductors for heat and electricity
They have no metallic luster, and do not reflect light.
Other nonmetals can be gases and solids.
Other nonmetals light, soft and have low density.
Some of the other nonmetals are flammable (Hydrogen, Carbon, Phosphorus and Sulfur). Nitrogen is nonflammable and oxygen helps combustion of other materials.
They have a low melting and boiling points.
When you go across the periodic table from carbon to nitrogen to oxygen, the number of valence electrons increases from 4 to 5 to 6.
