Periodic Table of Elements

The density of a material is its mass per unit volume and expressed as kilograms per cubic meter or grams per milliliter. The symbol most often used for density is ρ (the lower case Greek letter rho).

It can be is expressed by the formula:
ρ = m V
where ρ is the density, m is the mass, and V is the volume.

Example:
What is the density of a liquid with a volume of 1000 ml and 500 grams weight?
m = 500 grams, V = 1000 ml
ρ = m V = 500 1000 = 0.5g/ml
